Usual suspects
Line the table and gather
Around traditions

Passed down for generations
Always served and made with love

Over 500k

Along the walls of on-ramps and exits
I tend to feel a little less self-depressive
Realizing I’m free from the oppression
That’s effecting homeless intersections

Eyes wide every time like it’s a surprise
To see living conditions of the deprived
Then I can’t help but ask myself why
The sheer numbers continue to rise

How many hard knocks does it take
Until a human being begins to fade
In the background of the mundane
Working and shopping just the same

Hidden at the foot of our skyscrapers
Our dirty secrets hold birthright papers
Covered in filth, blanketed in newspapers
Taking up residence near ungodly vapors

Next time you find yourself downtown
Have yourself a good look around
Acknowledge what’s utterly profound…
Skewed by political hubbub that surrounds

I’m Thankful For…

Opening up my eyes and being alive

Covers to keep me warm in a storm

Pantry and fridge with many options

Family and friends that I can depend

Healthy body and mind to strengthen

Struggles and challenges to overcome

Opportunities to be a better person

The almighty that keeps me thriving

Freedom and liberty to express myself

World Wide Web to share my thoughts

Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
