I like to travel
Light, bagged in carry-on
Destined for the trash

The words descend
Sliding on a slippery slope
Coming to rest on a ridge

Laughing as if it’s a joke
A red herring bounces
Off rocks that explode

Crows caw to announce
As they pluck the straw man
Torn fallacies are denounced

Home Remedy, Yes Please!

Undress the stress
And its suffocating layers
It isn’t doing me any favors
Covered in high expectations
Ruining my immune system
Restricting the passageways
Leading toward a mini vacation
That I’ve already booked & paid
It’s time for a home remedy
With a fresh plea, God help me
Wished into a steaming-hot mug
Lemon and a heap load of honey
Mixed with two shots of whiskey
It’ll magically sanitize my sanity,
So I can rest easy and breathe
