Chasing sun rays
That inevitably escape
At the end of each day

Soon darkness invades
Hurry run the other way
It’s not too late

Try and stay awake
Watching shadows play
Tricks as demons slay

Twilight Zone

How many days turn

To sleepless nights

That pass us by

In a blink of an eye

Unable to discern

What’s wrong or right

Open the windows

Let the light shine

Breathe in fresh air

Exhale toxic cares

Sink into the pillows

As the terminator aligns

Law Enforcement

Let’s cut the red tape and protective tethers
Away from the modern-day views that now prove
We have digressed from equality and respect

Excessive force hides behind bulletproof vests
Notwithstanding casualties within their own nests
Force sworn to serve and protect the community
Our peace officers no longer represent a unity
Revolting in desperate anguish from city-to-city
Countless loved ones die and all we can do is cry
Empathy and mercy is hard with justice uncharged
Memorials, a form of media’s art that bleeds dark
Emptying of conscience for the lives unfairly taken
Never to know future dreams stopped in the making
Tempered by the honorable few not forsaken

*Acrostic Poetry

This piece was written as part of collaborative effort, which was rejected for its aggression.  I respect that I’ll never really know what it’s like, as I am white.  However, I know the difference between wrong and right, so I choose to stand on the side of humanity.

As the saying goes, perception is reality, and this is simply a creative reflection on how I see things around me. It is not meant to fuel any hate or animosity. I see good and bad in everybody, especially our police.

Scythe (repost)

At the twilight

Under a magical guise

Carrying her enchanted scythe

She moved stealthily throughout the night

Tracking down the corrupted and served destruction

Under the pretense that she was the bearer of the righteous light

At morning’s dawn, she laid down her blade, and prayed for the pain to go away.

Let’s Play

All she wanted was a friend
Somebody that would play
To assuage isolated days
Yet everybody just ran away
Rousing evil living within
Now, she plays with her prey

Hair drapes a hideous face
Victims bashed with heavy lead
In the head, but not for dead
There’s a night of play ahead
Limp bodies towed to her place
Blood trails marking a field red

Chained at the end of the hall
With each swing the evil swells
Dreadful weeps turn into yells
Sufferings’ beg and plead help
Plasma drips from every wall
Malicious spirits rise from hell

Unforeseen Sacrifices

Ripped apart at the seams
Waking up to terrors screams
A new day of possibilities
Waiting to create realities

There is always a paid price
In the unforeseen sacrifices
Handed out despite our faith
Written upon destinies fate

Life’s battles and deeper scars
Show us the depth and how far
We have come in a brutal fight
Determined to remain alive

Standing at the very brink
Think, it’ll be gone in a blink

I can’t staunch these tears that flow
Heavy, my head is held to the pillow
Staring out, through a sunny window

It was you, there from the ground
Who always lifted me up when down
Now it’s just emptiness with no sound

That clickety-clack tap against tiles
Rushing down the hall to bring me smiles
Nine and half years, we covered many miles

Hand out for your greeting at my bed
You knew when I woke without lifting my head
I didn’t need papers, your love & duty was purebred

You tried to tell us and fought hard to survive
We tried our damnedest, it felt like the longest ride
They tried CPR to revive, but we had to say our goodbyes
