My Shepherd

Watches over me
From her field of dreams
Now running wild and free

A year ago today
I watched my Tara slip away
It still feels like it was yesterday

She laid down to sleep
Leaving only memories to keep
That fill me with pride and peace

My Shepherd
Watches over me
From her field of dreams
Now running wild and free

Law Enforcement

Let’s cut the red tape and protective tethers
Away from the modern-day views that now prove
We have digressed from equality and respect

Excessive force hides behind bulletproof vests
Notwithstanding casualties within their own nests
Force sworn to serve and protect the community
Our peace officers no longer represent a unity
Revolting in desperate anguish from city-to-city
Countless loved ones die and all we can do is cry
Empathy and mercy is hard with justice uncharged
Memorials, a form of media’s art that bleeds dark
Emptying of conscience for the lives unfairly taken
Never to know future dreams stopped in the making
Tempered by the honorable few not forsaken

*Acrostic Poetry

This piece was written as part of collaborative effort, which was rejected for its aggression.  I respect that I’ll never really know what it’s like, as I am white.  However, I know the difference between wrong and right, so I choose to stand on the side of humanity.

As the saying goes, perception is reality, and this is simply a creative reflection on how I see things around me. It is not meant to fuel any hate or animosity. I see good and bad in everybody, especially our police.

We are more alike ❤️💛💚💙💜 #peace

Human Family

I note the obvious differences
in the human family.
Some of us are serious,
some thrive on comedy.

Some declare their lives are lived
as true profundity,
and others claim they really live
the real reality.

The variety of our skin tones
can confuse, bemuse, delight,
brown and pink and beige and purple,
tan and blue and white.

I’ve sailed upon the seven seas
and stopped in every land,
I’ve seen the wonders of the world
not yet one common man.

I know ten thousand women
called Jane and Mary Jane,
but I’ve not seen any two
who really were the same.

Mirror twins are different
although their features jibe,
and lovers think quite different thoughts
while lying side by side.

We love and lose in China,
we weep on England’s moors,
and laugh and moan in Guinea,
and thrive on Spanish shores.

We seek success in Finland,
are born and die in Maine.
In minor ways we differ,
in major we’re the same.

I note the obvious differences
between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

There’s a peace parade going on now in The Neighborhood

…Apple did it again 👍🏻

Reality Games & World Peace

I feel like I should know
More about this Pokémon go
But the truth in this matter
Is it’s not the game I’m after

Though if I’m being realistic
Their statistics are ballistic
A successful software launch
I can’t help to admire and watch

The rise and fall that’s riddled
With pitfalls that mean so little
To the audience at phones hand
A mobile extension in demand

How do these things happen
Is it predicted or imagined
Overnight phenomena’s reined
Around the planet unashamed

If we had this sort of exposure
Bringing people of the world closer
That’d be a miracle in and of its self
A game that I’d want to be dealt

-This week we are celebrating peace in The Neighborhood, here’s Day 1: The Opening Prayer
