Stumbled on Innocence

Throwing back a shot of fire, Zack sat the heavy leaded shot-glass down and reached for his beer as he scanned the crowded room. It was his night off, but the club was his second home and there was no one waiting for him where he rested his head and showered at night, so he took up a spot at the corner of the bar that shrouded him in the shadows and provided the best views. Through the flashing lights bouncing off bodies in motion that were bumping and grinding on the dance floor, he spotted a first-timer that intrigued his interest. He watched her closely to see what would happen and waited to see how she would respond.  When one of the men approached her she started fidgeting with her beverage and cast frantic glances around the room, clearly uncomfortable.  Perhaps, she wasn’t alone here after all. A few words were exchanged between the two and the guy left quickly.  After he left, she regained her composure and seemed captivated by the various activities taking place in the stations set up along the perimeter of the room.  Absorbed in a scene, she didn’t notice when one of the younger Dom’s approached, who Zack recognized as one of the trainees at the club. He leaned in to whisper something at her ear and what ever he said caused a nice response; a rosy flush crept up her chest, neck, and face that was out of view and bowed in embarrassment. When she finally looked up, at the young Dom, Zack saw innocence in the face of an angel. She didn’t belong here, and certainly not with an inexperienced Dom. He knew it was wrong to intrude or interrupt unless there was trouble, but he was compelled to move in and claim her attentions and was willing to break two of the house rules he enforced with others – interfering and participating while under the influence of more than two alcoholic beverages.

I decided to let my fingers explore something new (pun intended) this morning while enjoying my coffee, and it was fun.  I hope to squeeze out more time to write over the weekend, but if that doesn’t work out I’d like to wish everyone a splendid weekend!
